About this tool
Every browser sends a User-Agent string identifying itself. Support teams ask customers for it, QA teams reproduce bugs with it, and analytics tools segment traffic by it. Unfortunately the format is a historical mess — nearly every browser claims to be “Mozilla/5.0” and Chrome also claims to be Safari — so parsing by eye is unreliable.
This tool decodes the string into browser, version, rendering engine, operating system and device type, and flags common crawlers. The “Your device” panel adds details a screenshot can't show: viewport size, device pixel ratio, colour depth, time zone and dark-mode preference — everything a front-end developer needs to reproduce a layout bug.
Frequently asked questions
Is the user-agent reliable?
It can be spoofed and is being reduced by browsers (UA reduction). Use feature detection for logic, UA only for diagnostics.
Why does Windows 11 show as 10/11?
Windows 11 still reports 'Windows NT 10.0' in the UA string.
